Not less than 3,000 French museums took part in European Museums Night 2016 and over 2 million visitors answered the call. This year, thousands of activities are organized within the participating museums (concerts, guided tours, screenings, performances...).
For museum regulars or unusual enthusiasts, Museums Night also offers the opportunity to visit unusual places. To help you making the right choice, here is our selection among the nicest museums in Val d’Oise:
- Archéa, musée d’archéologie en pays de France (Louvres)
What about discovering Archéa, the museum of archeology in Pays de France? On Museums Night 2017, a great police investigation is held starting from 7 p.m. The investigation will evolve around a skeleton found in a Roman villa.
- Musée Archéologique du Val d’Oise (Guiry-en-Vexin)
The museum of archeology of Val d’Oise will be open for free on Museums Night. You can then discover very rich collections coming from archeological digs lead in the department. But you can also join a musical and theatrical wandering leaving every 20 minutes.
- Musée Camille Pissarro
Located where the former royal castle used to stand, the Camille Pissarro museum celebrates the first impressionist’s works. This latter lived for twenty years in Pontoise, from 1866 to 1883. During that period, the artist created over 300 paintings and engravings. The association "Les amis de Camille Pissarro" (Camille Pissarro’s friends) preserved numerous drawings and engravings as well as an oil on canvas by the master and works from his sons.
- Musées réunis (Cormeilles-en-Parisis)
In Cormeilles-en-Parisis, a museum recreates the evolution of the village which is now a town. You will attend the winemaker’s life, the cereal farmer’s life as well as a classroom like is used to be in the early century.
