February break 2018 at the Parc Zoologique de Paris

From February 17 to March 4, 2018, the Parc Zoologique de Paris invites you to discover a series of activities that give pride of place to carnivores. For the February break, this first wild encounter of the year will reveal everything you’ve always wanted to know about otter, wolf, bobcat and wolverine!

February break announces the start of a new series of wild encounters at the Parc Zoologique de Paris. This new cycle takes you straight to the 4 animals of the European biozone: namely otter, wolf, bobcat and wolverine.

This is the occasion to learn more about these four predators through a journey to discover the physical and sensory abilities of these European carnivores.

On the menu: every day will have its share of workshops, you can attend the feeding of the park’s wolves, listen to tales, meet experts, take part in activities and know more thanks to special exhibitions.

Croc’Athlon [Fang’Athlon]

What animal is able to take a prey 5 times bigger thank it out? What animal hides gymnast ability under its thick coat? Which one shows team spirit? Which animal presents the perfect profile to compete with skeleton champions?

To know the answer of these questions, take part in the 4 activities held daily. Including feeding, they will allow you to observe animals’ abilities as well as to compare their performances with yours thanks to mirroring activities. So, ready to face off otter, wolf, bobcat and wolverine to win the Croc’Athlon cup?

Que tu as de grandes dents [What a big mouth you have]

Yes, predators often have big fangs, but these are not their only assets. Focused on specimens coming from Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle collections, come along and observe varied adaptations allowing wolves, bobcats, wolverines and otters to be such effective hunters.

From 6 years old

Meet in the Achille Urbain room, every day from 1:30 p.m.
Free access. Exchanges time with the park mediators are regularly offered, schedule released on the spot.

Playful activities

With volunteers from the SECAS [Society for the Encouragement of Wildlife Conservation], the youngest visitors could create from recycled materials four life-size portraits of the promoted animals. They could even have a break by browsing through children books available for the break.

Sur la piste des loups [Tracking wolves]

With your family and track a pack of wolves, find their marks, try the study means that are used to follow these animals in their environment, then learn to interpret their behavior. As you learn to know these animals, common preconceptions will quickly disappear.

Duration: 1 hours / 15 persons maximum

Meeting experts

Every week, meet with one or several experts who will present their work with one of the four carnivores: healers, researchers, representatives from an environmental protection association… As many experiences as points of view to discover on these animals.

Feeding the European carnivores

Accompanied by a scientific intermediary, take part in the creation of food improvements to urge on wolves, bobcats or wolverines or help feeding otters with fishes. From the main kitchen to the gate of the enclosures, share a daily moment of the healers.

Duration: 30 minutes
Mandatory registrations (15 persons maximum), open from February 1.
Dates and schedule released when registrations open.

All year long, the “Rendez-vous Sauvages” [Wild Encounters] follow one another and offer focuses on the park species:

  • March 17 and 18: Manatees
  • June 16 and 17: Giraffes
  • August 18 and 19: Lemurs
  • September 22 and 23: Vultures
  • October 13 and 14: last Wild Encounters of the year

Except the “Sur la piste des Loups” workshop, all activities are free of charge as part of the visit of the park.
