The 36th edition of the sound and light show of Provins invites you to browse a great medieval picture book: a fresco about Provins evoking through 20 scenes the time of Thibaud of Champagne… Daily life scenes at farmers’ and bourgeois’, castle scenes, crusade, May Fair, Feast of Fools, Fairs of Champagne, falconry, la Soule game…
From a unique evening, the “Medieval Games” show has become the historic night show “Sound and Light show of Provins”, now held on several evenings with an always increasing popular success. For the 36th year, the Sound and Light show of Provins will be a year of meetings and human adventure.
A night show performed by over 300 Provins volunteers.
The Sound and Light show of Provins features 350 people, including 300 actors (men, women, children) on the stage area and about 50 technicians, dressmakers, reception staff and set staff.
Their particularity: they all are volunteers. They are working, studying or retired. Show actors are from varied associations, not especially specialized in the showbiz world. Over 1,200 costumes have been made by the association sewing team.
Before that, the tech team, always volunteering, has created the show soundtrack and prepared and set up all the light and sound gear. It’s the same team that manages the light and sound boards on the tech tower, set up behind the bleaches. It also takes care of the pyrotechnic effects that complete the show.
Over the years, these interludes have been more and more important to finally become the central piece of a genuine historical night show, always renewed.
This will be the occasion too to (re)discover the two big shows of Provins, Legend of the Knights and Eagles of the Remparts.
