Paris Design Week 2025: "577 chaises: l'hémicycle citoyen", the installation at the Archives nationales

To coincide with Paris Design Week 2025, from September 4 to 13, the courtyard of the Archives nationales will host the monumental, free, interactive work "577 chaises: l'hémicycle citoyen" (577 chairs: the citizen's hemicycle). Echoing the 577 seats of the French National Assembly, each unique reused chair becomes a voice for sitting... and thinking. The installation runs until September 21 for the Journées du Patrimoine and the Festival du Monde.

The police of the Age of Enlightenment, free exhibition at the Archives Nationales

The National Archives are devoting an exhibition to the "Police of the Enlightenment", the police force of the 18th century. In a thematic tour, the Archives aim to place the creation of the police in its historical context, that of the famine riots. The exhibition, which is free of charge, runs from September 18, 2020 to January 18, 2021. The exhibition is closed until further notice.
