The Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris is a popular park with Parisians, who call it "le luco", and tourists alike. A bucolic and lively garden, it's a delight for those who choose to stroll here, especially with the arrival of fine weather!

The Jardin du Luxembourg is one of the most visited gardens in Paris, and for good reason! Located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, surrounded by beautiful terraces, gourmet tea rooms and tasty brasseries, it's a lively park where the splendors of nature rub shoulders with the beauty of architecture. This is where the Palais du Luxembourg, now the seat of the French Senate, proudly stands. This same Palais was the inspiration behind the creation of this garden, requested in 1612 by Queen Marie de Médicis to accompany the building. Yes, the Jardin du Luxembourg looks its age!

The Palais du Luxembourg is not the only building to grace this rural garden. The Musée du Luxembourg is also located here. There's also an orangery and greenhouses housing over 400 species of orchid. But plant lovers can already admire the botanical wonders of the Jardin du Luxembourg even before approaching the greenhouses. The garden also has a surprisingly exotic feel that almost makes you forget you're in the capital.

We also come here to admire the various statues that adorn the garden, the beautiful Médicis fountain erected in 1630 by the woman from whom it takes its name, Marie de Médicis, and to bask in the sun on the many chairs it contains. In the shade of a tree, near a kiosk, you can also listen to an orchestra or brass band playing their instruments in the park. Not surprisingly, the Jardin du Luxembourg is very popular with musicians.

For the little ones, there's a pond where they can sail sailboats with the charm of another era. The grounds are also ideal for a game of pétanque. And if you fancy a picnic, some of the lawns are accessible! And if you're in the mood for a gourmet break, there are plenty of food stands to choose from! From creperies to ice-cream parlors, there's always something to tempt your taste buds, depending on the season.
