The Château de Champs-sur-Marne, an 18th-century treasure nestled in the Seine-et-Marne region of France, is a case in point. This monument was born of a curious story: accused of embezzlement, Paul Poisson de Bourvallais, secretary to the Royal Finance Council, was sentenced to the Bastille. To escape imprisonment, the owner of the Champs estate sold his property to the State.

Today, the estate is home to a furnished château and a remarkable garden, which enchants all visitors. To find out more about this exceptional monument, take part in the activities planned for the Monument Jeu d'Enfant event this weekend!

On the agenda for this family weekend:

  • October 18, 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
    LES VOYAGES EXTRAORDINAIRES DE ZÉLIE
1905. The Cahen d'Anvers family, owners of the Château de Champs-sur-Marne for the past 10 years, just don't get it! While the castle's library is filled with books from all eras on a wide variety of subjects, some books have lost all their content. This strange phenomenon concerns the Jules Verne adventure novels that the family loves so much. Their pages are hopelessly empty. Not a single letter or typeface! The Countess asks her children's governess, Zélie Brindavoine, for her opinion on this mystery... Zélie leafs through the blank pages and finally comes across a discreet inscription that she is able to decipher.
Suddenly, fiction becomes reality. The young woman is in for an extraordinary experience that goes beyond the imaginary. She travels to the heart of Jules Verne's work, on the roads, under the sea, in the air, in space...
Created by Compagnie Didascalies and performed by Aline Franciscovich and Christophe Leray.
    Ages 6 and up
    Running time: 1 h

  • October 19 at 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Come with your family to discover life in Champs during the reign of Louis and Louise Cahen d'Anvers. From reception rooms to maids' quarters, you'll discover the life of a large house, as well as all the everyday objects, some of which have only just been invented! A visit full of surprises, where you'll meet the castle's little hands at the turn of a corridor or a staircase...
