Alain Ducasse is always looking for discoveries! He travels the world, looking for adventures whether they are human or culinary. Back in 2018, the chef unveiled his lates project: a boat-restaurant, between the Trocadéro gardens and the Eiffel Tower.
After opening his ORE restaurant in Versailles, Spoon 2 at Paris Bourse, Ducasse stormed the Seine this September 2018 with a cruise-restaurant that can accomodate 200 persons on board. Whether it's for lunch or dinner, each of the 2 services offers a 90 to 120--minute ride around the greatest monuments in Paris.
On the cruising menu we’ll find contemporary French cuisine dishes, with beautiful seasonal products cooked on the spot (it must be said!), served by a 36-cook and pastry chef team working together on the boat's lower deck, ruled by Chef Francis Fauvel.
For instance, you can enjoy some delicioux gravlax seabream and beetroot as a starter.
Moving on to the main course, we must honor the spelt and yellow artichoke cookpot that has a genuinely original and slightly sour flavor.
As for desster, the Paris tout chocolat with crispy praline is shaped like the boat, the roasted figs are served with fig tree leaf ice cream and smell like yesteryear and it is so delightful.
Moreover, outside the cruise departure hours, you can enjoy an afternoon tea or an aperitif on the quay with an unobstructed view on the Iron Lady.
The conception of the electric boat took 18 months to naval architect and head of floating architecture and naval engineering agency Seine Design Gérard Ronzatti. Ducasse wanted to create first a foremost a "floating kitcen" above which he set his restaurant.
For the transparent indoor layout, CitySurfing called in duo designers Maurizio Galante and Tal Lancman that will guarantee the artistic and cultural direction of the boat. Franck Franjou, light plastics artist, thought and created the lighting evolving around the time of the day.
If CitySurfing doesn’t ring a bell, we owe them Hôtel OFF Paris Seine, the upcoming mill-bakery… With Ducasse, the Seine will be boosted again.
So, ready for a magical cruise?
