Did you think you'd found all the great Italian restaurants in Paris? Think again! For proof, head to Paris's chic 16th arrondissement, to push open the doors of Ma Goldo, a trattoria the likes of which we'd like to see more often in the capital.

Opened in February 2017 in Rue Dufrenoy, in the 16th arrondissement, Ma Goldo owes its name to its founder, Philippe Goldberg, in association with Charles Agniel (former rugby player and owner of Le Charlot in Deauville).

Together, they imagined a warm, welcoming place, with an intimate decor featuring black-and-white photos of Italian stars on the walls.

On the menu (which is about to be renewed), you'll find the great classics of Italian flavors , with a dozenantipasti (from €8 to €30), including the famous creamy burrata with olive oil and basil, the caprese salad and the plate of Italian charcuterie.

To whet our appetites, we're served the famous focaccia, revisited and baked to perfection!

What's next? You have a choice of fifteen pasta dishes (penne all gorgonzola, spaghetti with prawns, linguine alle vongole...), eight pizzas including margherita, Neapolitan, burrata, black truffle, queen or the signature"Ma Goldo" pizza, made with tomato, mozzarella and chorizo.

The rest of the menu includes fish, with Sicilian-style cod or meat. The most carnivorous among you will certainly be tempted by the elephant ear (breaded veal chop) or the veal escalope Marsala.

After hesitating for a long time as the suggestions are so tempting, we finally turn to the pasta with, on one side, the incredible spaghetti all tartufo nero, topped with real truffle shavings.

On the other, a real shared favorite: linguine with morels, perfectly al dente, and enhanced by a delicious morel sauce. Our taste buds still remember them!

And I might as well tell you right now, but big appetites are in for a treat, since Ma Goldo is generous and serves up copious portions, unlike some of its competitors...

The plus? The pasta, which can be made gluten-free on request.

For those with a sweet tooth, we recommend that you round off your delicious meal with the homemade tiramisu, which is just as generous and creamy as we like it!

Ma Goldo also offers a homemade Pana Cotta with red fruit coulis, or Affogato (espresso on a scoop of vanilla ice cream).

And to accompany these dishes, Ma Goldo has opted for quality vintages, including a Puglian red, which was very popular that evening, and an excellent Sicilian red wine.

Today, Ma Goldo boasts a large and solid clientele of regulars who would have liked to keep this address just for themselves. But thanks to its generous and delicious cuisine, Ma Goldo 's success has spread beyond the 16th arrondissement, making it the new HQ for Italian gastronomy in Western Paris!

Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
