Aux Bons Crus, the hearty roadside diner in Paris 11th arrondissement

If you think French cuisine is all about old-fashioned and friendly food, then you will be delighted at Aux Bons Crus, one of the last roadside dinners in town.

No, roadside dinners are not only to be found in small country villages, by national roads: in Paris, there still are truck stops, these restaurants serving French family food in a laid-back atmosphere. They are called Les Marches in the 16^th arrondissement – managed by the same owners than Aux Bons Crus – Chez Léon in the 8^th arrondissement and Aux Routiers in the 18^th.

At Aux Bons Crus, one can enjoy French cuisine straight from grandma’s kitchen, including delicious stewed dishes served on the timeless white and red checkered tablecloths. Dishes packed with memories. And smells too! Normal!

You get it, at Aux Bons Crus, you just have to seat to enjoy a nice moment with your friends over very French dishes. And of course, the menu is what makes the very essence of the French cuisine enjoyed by bon vivants. Do not think you will be served so sad-looking salad here, dishes have sauce, eggs are served with mayonnaise (€5), leeks with vinaigrette (€6.50) and it is for the best!

On the menu – changing monthly – you have for instance, veal’s kidney and sauce dijonnaise (€17) the string-cooked andouillette and mustard sauce (€17) or the delicious stuffed cabbage (€16.50). For the others, veal’s head and ravigote sauce (€17), pepper steak (€19) and tartare steak (€16) are also on the menu and served with homemade French fries! No, prices are not those of a bouillon, but there is an explanation: dishes are served in a very, very hearty way!

As for the rest of the menu, dishes are homemade: profiteroles (€8), floating island with pralines roses (€7), rum baba (€8.50)… you only have to ask.

Authentic, hearty and comfort food perfect to serenely (and indulgingly!) welcome winter.
