Lille-based Lazy Suzy is moving into the 5th arrondissement, and that's THE good news for fans of smoked meats and BBQ burgers!

If the lunchtime line-up in front of the counter behind which the team is busy was anything to go by, the arrival of Lazy Suzy in Paris's 5th arrondissement seemed to be awaited like the Messiah by local workers on their lunch break and students looking for a good street food option to devour between two lectures at the nearby Université de Jussieu.

Bingo for Lazy Suzy, which arrived in the capital just two years after the inauguration of its first address in Lille, thanks to the impetus of a band of gourmets comprising a chef, a baker, two butchers and two street food enthusiasts. The perfect equation, in short, to bring this 100% street food project to fruition, with a single idea in mind: to revisit the greatest classics of American street food, burgers and sandwiches, through the tradition of Texas-style BBQ.

And when you think BBQ, you think natural wood smoker! It's the perfect way to smoke those fine meats for hours on end, after marinating and massaging them with a blend of spices kept secret by the fine team. At Lazy Suzy, chi va piano, va sano, with the low&slow technique, a very slow and gentle cooking method that allows the meats to reveal all their aromas without rushing them, giving the meat a delicate smoky flavor.

Recipes on the menu include the beef burger (€12.50), withshredded beef, tartar sauce, fried onions and cucumber pickles; the green pulled pork burger (€12.50), with smoked and marinated pork, sweet and sour sauce, sucrine, guacamole and red onion pickles; or the smoky veggy (12.50€), aimed at vegetarians but which could be the envy of many others, with its smoked scamorza, olive cream, grilled eggplants and sun-dried tomatoes, slipped between two slices of farmhouse bread.

For our part, we loved the pulled pork burger (10€), the already classic burger of the Maison, with smoked pig shredded moist to perfection, barbecue sauce, coleslaw and cucumber pickles, plus a healthy dose of raclette cheese as an option, offered with all burgers. And since the devil is in the details, La Maison makes a point of making all its sauces in-house, as well as all the pickles that spice up the burgers.

To accompany these generous burgers, there's nothing quite like fries in the purest Lille tradition. It's simple: to maintain the same level of quality at its Paris address, Lazy Suzy has potatoes delivered each morning from the Hauts-de-France region. These are then immersed in two successive oil baths for maximum crispness! Here again, it's the details that won us over: the homemade mayonnaise and the herbes de Provence generously topped on the fries.

And if you're feeling naughty, you can even opt for the pulled pork fries (12€), topped with pulled pork, coleslaw and pickles. The choice is yours!
