Hôtel de Berri is the second establishment of the Luxury collection of Marriott International group in Paris, some already nicknamed it Prince de Galles Hotel’s little brother. Located at 20 rue de Berri, within walking distance from the Champs-Elysées, the luxury hotel perfects its final touches to open on this upcoming May 15, bookings are already open.
Behind its protected historical façade, the hotel hides a 3000-sqm park, a SPA, two hammams and a gym and not less than 75 rooms including 35 suites up to 125-sqm. Inside, we evolve in a world of vibrant and beautiful colors, paintings and ancient furniture bargain-hunted here and there by Philippe Renaud.
For this hotel, owners wanted to think outside the box with rooms that don’t look the same. The watchword here is to feel like somewhere else but at home. Out of the 75 rooms, there are not two that look the same, they all have been worked out and decorated differently with paintings, furniture and trinkets that have been bargain-hunted or found in family attics.
Here, ancient and modern rub shoulders to create a welcoming picture. Apple TV with Netflix and other high-tech equipment await. The goal is to give a new standard to luxury. What is luxury in the end? Having the same room than anyone else or simply feeling like at home? Goodbye minimalism and hello quirkiness and eclecticism but with the comfort of your home (and maybe more).
The designer managed to evoke, in a very subtle way, Parisian style figures such as Jeanne Lanvin, Coco Chanel and even Elsa Schiaparelli, muse of the Parisan life who used to hold court in the same place for 40 years.
For the record, this hotel full of history used to be – among others – the house of Princess Mathilde, Prince Jérôme Bonaparte’s daughter and historic fiancé of Napoléon III and the Berckheim baroness, wife of Marquis de Colbert.
The bar of the hotel, named Bizzaz, reveals a counter of Greek inspiration, it opens onto a large park, still uncultivated at the moment but that should soon feature a green and quiet terrace. The bar will have a true mixologist. Geoffroy Lebris, helped by the great infuser Christopher Gaglione will put every effort to concoct you the best creative and fun cocktails.
Moving on to the cooking, it’s Tuscan chef Michele Dalla Valle (who worked at the Plaza-Athénée and even Le Meurice at the same time as Yannick Alleno) who will have the task to make your taste buds travels, no matter if you’re the restaurant client or the Bizazz bar client. On the menu of the restaurant named The Shiap, a clever and delicious mix of Italian flavors and French classicism.
It’s an original décor that comes to dress the new restaurant, a fresco painted by Hippolyte Romain. The painter of the Parisian life who worked in the fashion and movie worlds.
In other words, Hôtel de Berri has many surprises in store, we can’t wait to see the final result.
