Located just a stone's throw from the Champs-Elysées, the 5* Hotel de Berri, with its huge rooms, spa, bar, Italian restaurant and 3,000 m2 park, is sure to surprise you.

The Hotel de Berri is the second hotel in the Marriott International Luxury Collection in Paris, and some call it the little brother of the Prince of Wales. Behind its protected historic façade, a stone's throw from the Champs-Elysées, the hotel conceals a 3,000 m2 park, a spa, two hammams, a fitness room and no fewer than 75 rooms, including 35 suites of up to 125m2.

Inside, you'll be surrounded by vibrant, shimmering colors, paintings and antique furniture collected here and there by Philippe Renaud.

For this hotel, the owners wanted to break away from the norm of identical, uncluttered rooms. The watchword here is to feel at home in your own home. No two of the 75 rooms are alike, and each has been designed and decorated differently, with paintings, furniture and knick-knacks collected from the family's attics.

Here, ancient and modern come together to create a welcoming whole. Apple TV, Netflix access and other high-tech equipment await you. The aim is to set a new standard for luxury. What is luxury, after all? Having the same room for everyone, or simply feeling at home? Goodbye minimalism, hello eccentricity and eclecticism, but with all the comforts of home (and more).

The scenographer has subtly evoked Parisian style figures such as Jeanne Lanvin, Coco Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli, the muse of Parisian life who held salon at this address for 40 years.

The hotel, steeped in history, was home to Princess Mathilde, daughter of Prince Jérôme Bonaparte and Napoleon III's historic fiancée, as well as the Baronne de Berckheim, wife of the Marquis de Colbert.

The hotel's large bar, named Bizzaz, features a period Greek counter, and opens onto the view of a large park which is currently undeveloped, but which should soon unveil a verdant, peaceful terrace. The bar will be staffed by a real mixologist. Geoffroy Lebris, accompanied by the brilliant infuser Christopher Gaglione, will be on hand to concoct the best creative and offbeat cocktails.

On the culinary side,Tuscan chef Michele Dalla Valle (formerly of Plaza-Athénée and Le Meurice in Yannick Alleno's day) will be responsible for delighting the taste buds of guests at the hotel's restaurant and Bizazz bar. The menu at The Shiap restaurant features a delicious blend of Italian flavours and French classicism.

The new restaurant features an original decor: a fresco byHippolyte Romain, a painter of Parisian life who has worked in fashion and cinema.

In short, the Hôtel de Berri is full of surprises, and we can't wait to see it completed.

Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
