The Journées du Patrimoine are back again for their 42nd edition! This exceptional event always takes place on the third weekend of September, to the delight of those who enjoy cultural visits and those who are curious and eager to discover new things.
This event, which takes place all over Europe, invites us to enjoy a program, often free or inexpensive, of original visits, events and workshops, designed for young and old alike, at the heart of our most beautiful heritage treasures. All kinds of venues are up for the challenge: cultural establishments including museums, castles and historic monuments, addresses usually closed to the public, fashion houses, temples of craftsmanship, and much more!
Even hospitals are taking part in the Heritage Days ballet. And in Paris, one ofEurope's largest hospitals is revealing its secrets through a special program scheduled for the weekend of September 20 and 21, 2025. The Pitié Salpêtrière Hospital today stands out for its gargantuan proportions, with 90 buildings spread over 33 hectares, and its history is far from recent: its origins date back to the 16th century, and its famous chapel was commissioned by none other than the Sun King, Louis XIV.
A forgotten jewel of Paris, the Chapelle Saint-Louis de la Salpêtrière opens its doors for exclusive guided tours. Come and discover the historical and architectural mysteries of this grand chapel, nestled in the heart of France's largest hospital.
An emblematic yet little-known Parisian landmark, the Chapelle Saint-Louis de la Salpêtrière was built in 1669 on the orders of Louis XIV.
Once a place of confinement and reform for beggars, prostitutes and the destitute, it is now being reinvented as an inclusive place of exchange and artistic creation at the crossroads of culture, health and spirituality. The chapel hosts concerts, exhibitions, conferences and other exceptional events that encourage artistic expression and creation.
One-hour tour in French.
