Created in 1984 by the French Ministry of Culture, the European Heritage Days have become a not-to-be-missed event for lovers of history, art and culture. Every year, on the third weekend in September, thousands of monuments, museums, castles and other sites usually closed to the public open their doors. In Paris, this event is particularly eagerly awaited, offering residents and visitors alike the opportunity to explore the capital's emblematic sites, often in ways never before possible.
For this 2025 edition, numerous venues across Paris and the Île-de-France region are offering guided tours, temporary exhibitions and events for all ages. Don't miss the visit to the Élysée Palace, the exceptional tour of the Senate, or the discovery of the hidden treasures of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France. Away from the capital, sites such as the Château de Versailles and the Basilique de Saint-Denisinvite youto immerse yourself in French history.
Among the places to visit is the Maison de l'Europe de Paris, in the 4th arrondissement. This institution tells the story of the European Union, its member countries... Founded in 1956, the Maison de l'Europe's mission is to promote the European ideal and encourage dialogue between European citizens. During the Heritage Days, it offers conferences, exhibitions and meetings to help you better understand today's European issues.

For the 2025 edition of the European Heritage Days, whose theme this year is dedicated to Architectural Heritage, the MdEP has as its guest of the month the French Ministry of Culture. In partnership with its Direction Générale des patrimoines et de l'architecture, we are offering an exhibition and conference dedicated to the subject.
Firstly, from September 1, we'll be hosting an exhibition for the general public, designed by the French Ministry of Culture (Direction Générale des Patrimoines et de l'Architecture, Mission du Patrimoine Mondial) in partnership with the Council of Europe and the Secretariat of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes. The exhibition, in the form of 34 kakemonos, presents the heritage sites, routes and partners involved in the project in France.
We'll be opening our doors on Saturday, September 20, for the European Heritage Days, taking place this year from September 20 to 21, 2025. We look forward to welcoming you from 2pm to 5pm.
This event is organized as part of the activities of Europe Direct Paris.
