An opportunity to learn more about the site and its colorful founder, Albert Kahn. He founded Les Archives de la Planète, a company responsible for immortalizing the world's jewels in autochrome (the first color photographs). Albert Kahn was also passionate about plants. He therefore wanted to create a garden open to the public, showcasing every style of garden in the world. In all, 6 gardens provide an exhaustive presentation of the art of gardening: a French garden, a Japanese garden with its tea pavilion, an English garden, a Vosges forest, a blue forest with its central marsh and a golden forest with its birch trees.

When it went bankrupt in 1932, the residence was seized, but was soon bought by the Prefecture of the Seine, which wished to continue welcoming the public to the gardens. The mansion was then converted into a museum, to display a fine selection of the 72,000 autochromes and thousands of hours of film produced by the ten photographers hired by Albert Kahn.
