It's back, that event we eagerly anticipate every year: the 43rd edition of Heritage Days take place this weekend on September 19 and 20, 2026. But why do we love this cultural gathering so much? Here’s a quick rundown for anyone who might be catching up.
During the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days), over 1,500 sites open their doors to us for a weekend, free of charge or at a reduced price. Monuments, museums, churches, factories and shops, institutions, gardens, places of power, historical or architectural curiosities... All these extraordinary places welcome the curious, and let us discover their particularities. This is often an opportunity to discover places closed to the public, and to get to know our region better.
Paris is a city of art and culture, the capital of France with a thousand years of history: of course, there are a thousand things to do during the Journées du Patrimoine. But if you'd like to discover new horizons without crossing the whole of theÎle-de-France region, we have a few suggestions.
Here's a selection of places to see in the départements of Ile-de-France, accessible by metro, RER, bus, TER or streetcar. With a flick of your Navigo, you'll be transported to lands you've never seen before! Let yourself be tempted by this wonderful adventure!
