Warning: a PM10 fine particle pollution episode is forecast for this Wednesday, March 5, 2025 in Paris and the surrounding area. As is often the case on days with high levels of pollution, the Mairie de Paris is recommending that you leave your car in the parking lot and use public transport, electric vehicles or even bicycles to get around the capital.
In line with the City's practice during such episodes, residential parking is made free for the day. This initiative is designed to encourage residents to limit the use of their personal vehicles and give preference to public transport, carpooling or active modes of transport such as walking and cycling.
The Préfecture de Police also recommends reducing traffic speed and adopting a flexible driving style to reduce pollutant emissions. The authorities are calling on Parisians to show good citizenship by adapting their behavior to the situation.
It is important to note that free parking only applies to residential parking in designated zones. Other types of parking remain subject to the usual charges. For more information on the measures in force during pollution peaks, please consult the City of Paris website.
By adopting these measures, the City of Paris seeks to protect the health of its residents and improve air quality by reducing sources of pollution linked to automobile traffic.
During periods of pollution, we recommend that you do not change your usual home ventilation practices, as these measures are not justified except in specific situations such as industrial accidents. To keep abreast of current measures and health recommendations, please consult the official websites of the City of Paris and theÎle-de-France Regional Health Agency.
These measures may be extended if the pollution episode does not end after this Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
