The Chinese Lunar New Year takes over the 13th arrondissement of Paris from Monday January 27 to Saturday February 15, 2025. On the program: cultural events, shows, exhibitions and the unmissable parade on Sunday February 9, the largest in the capital.

January 29 is Lunar New Year, a very important date in the Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese calendars, as it marks the beginning of the New Year in these cultures! From Hong Kong to Paris, this event is celebrated with a rich variety of activities: parades, workshops, exhibitions... The Mairie du 13e, the arrondissement with the best-known Chinatown, organizes a wide range of events every year.

Once again this year, the 13th arrondissement is transformed to celebrate the start of a new lunar year. In 2025, we move from the Year of the Dragon to that of the Wood Snake. The festivities begin on January 27, with the inauguration of the street pavoisement, where lanterns and traditional decorations adorn the district.

The highlight is the Chinese New Year parade, scheduled for Sunday February 9. Dragons, dancing lions and colorful floats will parade down the Avenue d'Ivry and surrounding area, accompanied by traditional music and dance. The show attracts thousands of spectators every year, and the festive atmosphere promises to be one to remember.

On the program for the Lunar New Year of the 13th 2025:

Exhibitions:

  • "Tous sous le même ciel", presented by the Alliance Française de Pékin, brings together more than 80 works by children aged 4 to 16, exploring the themes of ecology and the environment.

  • "À toute vitesse", a photographic exhibition by Charles Dengpheng, offers a vibrant look at Vietnam.

Concerts and shows:

  • On January 28, theOrchestre Chinois de Paris presents the "Chinese New Year Symphony", combining traditional music, ballet and jazz.

  • On February 7, the Vent d'Orient Vent d'Occident association and the Confucius Institute present "Le Bûcheron et le musicien", a musical show combining original compositions, sand drawings and choir.

  • Xiangqi European Championship: Chinese chess enthusiasts are invited to Mairie du 13e on February 3 and 4 to follow this unique tournament.

Last but not least, the Spring Festival and the Film Festival round off this rich program of discoveries.
