Chinese New Year - Lunar at la Samaritaine 2025, free entertainment and dragon dance on the program

The Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year to encompass all communities, takes over la Samaritaine from January 22 to February 4, 2025. To celebrate the Year of the Snake, the department store is offering a series of cultural events, artistic demonstrations and an Asian beauty selection.

Chinese New Year, or rather Lunar New Year, is just around the corner! In Paris, a whole host of events are in the works, from traditional dragon parades to festive Asian menus, workshops and exhibitions. For its part, La Samaritaine is joining in the celebrations, getting ready to set theYear of the Snake alight with an attractive program to be discovered from January 22 to February 4, 2025.

Year of the Snake in the spotlight

The Lunar New Year, officially celebrated this year on January 29, 2025, ushers in the Year of the Snake, a powerful symbol of wisdom, transformation and renewal. In collaboration with theChina Tourism Office in Paris, la Samaritaine offers two weeks of immersive experiences to discover the richness of Asian culture in a unique setting.

Festive highlights

  • On January 25, a Chinese calligraphy demonstration invites visitors to discover the art of concentration. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., on the first floor of the historic building, master calligraphers create personalized works to celebrate values such as happiness and prosperity.

  • On February 1, make way for the spectacular dragon dance, winding its way from Pont-Neuf to Place de la Monnaie before ending under the glass roof on the 5ᵉ floor of La Samaritaine. Three performances are scheduled at 11am, 3pm and 5:30pm, promising a festive and captivating moment.

  • From January 31 to February 2, themeticulous art of traditional embroidery is highlighted on the first floor. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., discover this ancestral practice, a symbol of patience and perseverance, and admire the work of passionate craftsmen.

Beauty and well-being under the sign of the snake

  • In parallel with the cultural events, the department store's -1 level will be showcasing leading Asian beauty brands. Florasis, COSRX, Beauty of Joseon and Skin1004 are labels renowned for their innovative, natural formulas. The perfect opportunity to reconnect with well-being, in harmony with the spirit of transformation and renewal of the Year of the Snake.
