Note: due to the red heatwave alert and the security measures in place in Paris, some events on the Music Day 2026 may be canceled, postponed, relocated or changed. Please check details before you head out.
More than forty years ago, Maurice Fleuret, the head of music and dance at the Ministry of Culture, wanted to make music omnipresent to honor an art that stirs such powerful emotions. That drive gave birth to the Fête de la Musique, in 1982. A free celebration open to everyone, which lets all styles and all artists be heard.
Since then, the Fête de la Musique has become a must-attend community event, celebrating the arrival of summer with concerts and musical activities staged in the streets, parks, museums, cafes and restaurants, churches, cultural venues and even some official sites.
In Paris, music rings out from every street corner on this Sunday, June 21, 2026. Electro concerts, classical music, children’s songs, rock, pop, world music, reggae, blues, hip-hop... the options are plentiful. To help you make the most of this Music Day, here are the concerts to see near you, in the capital’s districts.
This edition unfolds in a peculiar context. Paris and the Île-de-France region are placed under vigilance rouge canicule, and the Préfecture de Police is stepping up security with several measures. The musical performances will have to end at 00:30, in order to reconcile the celebration with the residents’ quality of life.
The consumption of alcohol on public roads and in public spaces is banned from Sunday, June 21, 2026 at 7:00 a.m. to Monday, June 22, 2026 at 7:00 a.m. Additional measures also apply to certain areas along the banks of the Seine, as well as glass containers, fireworks, dangerous objects, and unpermitted gatherings.
Unregistered gatherings, processions and parades are notably prohibited on certain low-lying Seine quays, from Sunday, June 21, 2026 at 3:00 PM to Monday, June 22, 2026 at 8:00 AM, in order to prevent the risk of falls and drownings. Before heading out, be sure to verify each event with the organizers, the town halls, or the venues involved.
Motorized traffic restrictions are also planned in several parts of Paris, while an exceptional transport service is being put in place: several metro, RER, Transilien and tram lines will run overnight, and the Noctilien network will be adjusted to traffic conditions and security perimeters.
