The Cannes Film Festival 2024 is back for its 77th edition, from May 14 to 25, 2024! This Thursday, April 11, saw the eagerly awaited press conference unveiling the first out-of-competition and in-competition films. Thierry Frémaux and Iris Knobloch announced the list of films selected for this new edition of the Cannes Festival, a list that has since been completed by a second announcement on April 22.
The selection is intended to be as heterogeneous as possible in terms of genre cinema. Thierry Frémaux reports that the festival's selection committee viewed 2,000 films (!) before drawing up this list. The opening film is Le Deuxième Acte, Quentin Dupieux 's new feature with Léa Seydoux, Raphaël Quenard, Vincent Lindon and Louis Garrel, presented out of competition.
Without further ado, we unveil the official selection for the Cannes Film Festival 2024!
