Project Silence, the latest disaster film from Korean director Kim Tae-gon, is presented in the Midnight Screening at the renowned Cannes Film Festival 2023. Starring renowned actors Lee Sun-kyun and Ju Ji-hun, the film follows the story of survivors trapped on a collapsing bridge, while being confronted by a horde of dogs trained to kill.
With a prestigious cast (unknown in France, but made up of the biggest Korean stars of the moment), the film is one of the highlights of this year's Cannes Film Festival, even though it is presented out of Competition. And with good reason! The film may lack originality (it's a cross between The Host and Dernier Train pour Busan, two other Korean thrillers), but it's the kind of work made to be enjoyed!
And it works: the action is generous. It brings its share of thrills, emotions and hemoglobin, without taking the viewer for a fool. The special effects are sometimes a bit overdone, but we're not going to sulk in the face of such a spectacle!
