After piles of tea towels and bargains at knock-down prices, theex-TATI Barbès reopens its doors from January 23 to June 29 , 2025, resurrected by Youssouf Fofana, the fashion designer behind the Maison Château Rouge label. The legendary former store in the 18th arrondissement will be transformed into a "Grand Magasin Éphémère", a concept store combining culture, fashion and craftsmanship in a trendy setting. The program includes a sales outlet, anexhibition space, a library, a cafeteria and a workshop.
After taking over the keys to this emblematic building on Boulevard Barbès, Youssouf Fofana is breathing new life into the neighborhood, as part of his "Union de la jeunesse internationale" project. The idea? To transform this popular shopping temple steeped in history into an ephemeral department store that combines culture and lifestyle, from Wednesday to Sunday. More specifically, he wants to "create a cultural space focused on diasporas and African cultures", as reported by Fashion Network.
Over two floors, the spot, revisited by the Ciguë collective and the Diplomates agency, is raw, vibrant and multifaceted. À la carte :
If this ephemeral department store promises to stir up the fashion world, it's also thanks to the support of the Jordan brand (Nike group), which had already collaborated with Youssouf Fofana in 2024 for the "District 23" event. Together, they continue to make Barbès rhyme with street culture and new ideas.
So, are you ready to rediscover the hype of Barbès?
