Calling all art, decor and vintage fashion enthusiasts! The Foire de Chatou, the long-awaited event for antique and second-hand dealers, returns for a new edition from March 8 to 17, 2024. In all, over 300 exhibitors welcome visitors to their diverse and varied stands steeped in history. Organized by the Syndicat National du Commerce de l'Antiquité, de l'Occasion et des Galeries d'Art (SNCAO-GA), this famous institution, the largest and oldest fair of its kind in France, takes place twice a year, in September and March, on theÎle des Impressionnistes in Chatou, Yvelines.
With a covered area of 21,000 square meters, the Foire de Chatou welcomes between 25,000 and 30,000 visitors each year. The event has become a real ritual for enthusiasts, a walk full of surprises for amateurs and a great idea for a family outing for the simply curious.
There's no shortage of opportunities! Rare pieces rub shoulders with other hot nuggets, from furniture to vintage fashion, ultra-stylish decor and precious jewels.
The Fair is all about mixing styles and influences! For over 50 years, tents filled with paintings have mingled with those filled with toys, books, furniture, tableware, silverware, clocks, fabrics and sculptures, in a scenography worthy of a veritable open-air museum. For 10 days, each antique dealer exhibits his or her wares in the heart of a marvellous setting, to pique the curiosity of buyers or simply for the pleasure of the eyes.
It's a real village atmosphere, with treasures as far as the eye can see, to make your head spin and your eyes sparkle. To get the most out of the experience, it's best to plan a day or even a whole weekend!
As you stroll along, the aisles reveal furniture from the 50s, sacred paintings from the 17th century, mirrors from every era, wicker armchairs and garden furniture, embroidered linen, a pair of candlesticks, a chest of drawers from the 30s,silverware, postcards, toys, books and jewelry. In this picturesque abundance, you'll find what you're looking for and what you're not!
Small "trinkets" stand next to Saxon porcelain or a pretty oil landscape.
Certified with the " Antiquité-Qualité " label, the Foire de Chatou offers buyers all the guarantees they need, with a free appraisal service.
The Foire de Chatou also showcases a sample of France's rich gastronomic heritage. Visitors can sample ham, foie gras, sausages, oysters, honeys and other regional specialities, and leave with a beautiful basket of local produce.
As you can see, the Foire de Chatou is a temple for bargain hunters with good taste, but it's also an original experience, which seduces and surprises, where it's not unusual to fall in love, and where talking to the merchants is an art!
