After years of closure, the Musée National de la Marine in Paris has reopened its doors, with new exhibitions and events throughout the year, to reveal the secrets of the ocean. Seas and waterways, which make up 70% of our planet's surface, are still mysterious and are just waiting to be revealed, at the first-ever Festival of the Sea and Seafarers, to be held from March 28 to 30, 2025, open to the general public free of charge.
And the"Grande Marée" is aptly named, since the date of the festival was not chosen by chance. On Sunday March 30, we'll be experiencing the highest tidal range of the year 2025 on the French coast, at 114. Underwater photographers, divers, navigators, explorers, oceanographers, activists and other personalities from the world of underwater photography will share their passion and discoveries with the general public, from the oceans and rivers to the glaciers and wetlands they have traversed.
For three days, men and women from the sea and beyond will be sharing their expeditions, adventures and research on this blue planet, through documentaries, readings of book extracts, sounds and exhibitions, to inform and raise awareness of this element essential to our lives. To round off the weekend, the Eiffel Tower will be lit up in blue at 8pm!
