RTL2 blew out the candles of its emblematic Pop Rock Live under the gilding of the Trianon, in the heart of Paris's 18th arrondissement, on Friday October 4, 2024. And what better way to celebrate a decade than by inviting four of the French music scene's top stars for an exclusive, ultra-convivial show?
Clara Luciani, Jean-Louis Aubert, Pierre Garnier and Eddy de Pretto put in exceptional performances, to the applause of a lucky few (who won tickets for the private concert on the famous radio station). Here's a look back at a memorable evening of musical diversity and emotion.
Freshly crowned winner of the latest edition of Star Academy, Pierre Garnier set hearts aflutter (especially those of the ladies) with a guitar-vocals performance as intense as it was catchy. His hits"Ceux qu'on était" and"Chaque seconde", sung at the top of their lungs by the crowd, confirmed that this young artist is a real phenomenon.
At just 20 years of age, "little Pierre" already has all the makings of a great artist. If you missed out on his next concert at the Olympia, which has been sold out for a long time now, get ready to pounce on the next dates!
In a magnetic atmosphere, Eddy de Pretto performed his most powerful songs, from"Fête de trop" to"Kid" and"Parfaitement". True to form, the singer didn't shy away from tackling themes that are close to his heart: difference, marginality and the complexity of being "apart".
Between a couple of heartfelt punchlines, he even slipped in a wink to shrink's surgeries, those silent heroes who make the world go round, according to him. If he's already convinced you in the studio, live his lyrics take on a whole new dimension: transcended, more intense, more touching.
To top it all off, Eddy took the opportunity to perform"Être biennn", taken from his latest album.
After a short break to nurse, Clara Luciani made a triumphant return to the stage. Sun-kissed and thrilled to see her audience again, she lit up the Trianon with her unspoilt authenticity. Beneath her air of a wise little girl, hidden behind her large curtained bangs, Clara performed hits such as"La grenade" and"Respire encore" with infectious energy, getting the whole audience up and dancing.
And the icing on the cake was her first live performance of"Tout pour moi", a new track from her long-awaited 3rd album, "Mon sang", due for release on November 15. A sparkling, danceable track, true to her modern, deliciously retro pop style.
What would a pop rock evening be without a dose of legend? Jean-Louis Aubert, ex-leader of the legendary group Téléphone, proved once again that he is a monument of French rock. At 69, the artist has lost none of his passion or aura. A performer like few others, he set the Trianon on fire with his frenzied riffs, silver electric guitar in hand, notably on the iconic"Juste une illusion" and"Ça c'est vraiment toi". Even today, he continues to bring crowds of all generations to their feet and put on a show, right down to his provocative jacket (and microphone!)!
But Jean-Louis Aubert 's innate charisma and warm, infectious smile kept the audience on their toes from start to finish. When he performed"Un autre monde", the communion was total: a great moment of sharing and singing in unison.
Then, finally, he dedicated his new song,"La chanson qui guérit", to Michel Blanc, a long-standing friend he met on the benches of the Lycée Pasteur in Neuilly-sur-Seine (where Gérard Jugnot, Christian Clavier and Thierry Lhermitte also attended school), who passed away on the night of October 3 to 4. A tribute to his childhood friend that proves that behind the rock star lies a man with a big heart.
Pop rock, wild emotions, laughter and tears ... RTL2 Pop Rock Live's 10-year anniversary evening brought hearts and generations together around music in a supercharged atmosphere! One thing's for sure: we're already ready for the 20th anniversary!
