Photo Doc. 2023, the documentary photography event at the Halle des Blancs Manteaux

Photography is celebrated on May 12, 13 and 14, 2023 at the Halle des Blancs Manteaux with the Photo Doc festival. For this new edition, the international fair organized in the Marais district offers us a little introspection, with the theme"The Self-Portrait... Towards a common of the work". Take advantage of it, the event is free!

This photography festival returns for a new edition with a theme that is both personal and unifying. The role of photographers is to immortalize the world, to show us their reality. But this vision cannot exist without them, without their individuality and their look. The aim of this theme is to put these documentary photographers back in the spotlight, to remind us of their presence and their role behind the images they reveal to us.

Through 25 exhibition spaces, where more than 100 photographers are put forward, the Photo Doc. fair pushes us to question the commitment of the documentary photographer. We question the importance of the individual, his links with the collective, the recognition brought to their work.

The guest of honor of this 2023 edition is Hiroh KiKaï, a philosopher photographer from Japan. He is notably known for his black and white portraits of the inhabitants of the popular district of Tokyo, Asakusa. His talent is recognized all over the world. Hiroh KiKaï believes that his photography is a tribute to people, to those individuals who all hide a part of mystery.

Visitors can discover free of charge the works of many documentary photographers, exhibited for the occasion, but also attend round tables, guided tours, discussions, meetings, and screenings of photographic films, at the Halle and in other cultural venues in the capital, sometimes even before the festival.

For this 2023 edition, we find many galleries and professionals of the field, including the In)(between gallery, the Echo119 gallery, the 93 Grand Angle gallery, the Fictions Documentaires festival, the photoSerie Collection...

Without a doubt, Photo Doc is a must for all photo fans!
