The exhibition devoted to William Turner at the Musée Jacquemart-André takes us on a wonderful journey. It includes paintings and watercolors from London's famous Tate Museum. The exhibition remains closed until further notice.

Fans of English painting will have to hurry. The Musée Jacquemart-André is holding its current exhibition, a retrospective of the work of Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1851), entitled Turner, paintings and watercolors from the Tate, until January 11, 2021! The exhibition remains closed until further notice.

This exhibition was made possible thanks to a collaboration withLondon' s Tate. The London museum houses the world's largest collection of Turner's work. After the artist's death in 1856, the British nation received an immense bequest including numerous oil paintings, unfinished studies and sketches, as well as thousands of works on paper: watercolors, drawings and sketchbooks.

Theexhibition unveils part of this intimate collection, offering unique insights into Turner's mind, imagination and private practice through 60 watercolors and a dozen oil paintings, some of which have never before been shown in France ! The paintings retrace the painter's various travels. England, Italy, France, Belgium... Europe spreads out in pastel hues on Turner's canvases.

Unquestionably the greatest exponent of the golden age ofEnglish watercolor, Joseph Mallord William Turner exploited the effects of light and transparency on English landscapes or Venetian lagoons. Landscapes that continue to move us today.
