On the edge of the Jardin du Luxembourg, the Musée Zadkine in Paris opens its doors to its permanent collection, free of charge, all year round, in the heart of a green setting populated by sculptures. Nestled at 100 bis rue d'Assas, the museum is the former home of iconic sculptor Ossip Zadkine, who lived there from 1928 to 1967. The museum is currently closed for renovation.

The Musée Zadkine is closed for redevelopment until May 19, 2025. The permanent collections will reopen on May 20.

We invite you to immerse yourself in the Musée Zadkine, a conservatory inaugurated in 1982 and dedicated to the work and memory ofOssip Zadkine. The unique ambience of this museum-workshop will captivate you with its original identity: a place for living and creating, it is a living testimony to the Montparnasse of artists. Strolling through Zadkine's work spaces, you can feel the presence of the artist and his wife, painter Valentine Prax.

To mark the museum's thirtieth anniversary, after a year of renovation work, it has reaffirmed its identity while offering :

  • A new reception area,
  • An expanded presentation of its collections,
  • An original tour around the garden, under the light of the glass roofs, where wood, stone and earth interact.

It was the wish ofOssip Zadkine, a major figure of the École de Paris, to open his studio to the general public. This wish became a reality in 1982 with the bequest of Valentine Prax, offering drawings, photos, tapestries and sculptures. Walking through this green setting, between the Jardin du Luxembourg and Montparnasse, we discover a museum that aims to recreate the spirit of the artist's studio, one of the few remaining testimonies of this period.

Zadkine's works, exhibited in daylight, are classified by material, inviting us to a conversation between sculptures in plaster, clay, wood and stone. They reveal the stylistic evolution of this unclassifiable artist, testifying to the richness of his oeuvre.
