Created in 1976 by Marie-Madeleine Rabecq-Maillard, curator of the Musée d'Histoire de l'Éducation, the Musée du Jouet is a unique cultural venue in the Paris region.
In fact, the collections include hundreds of games and toys, used by young and old alike to amuse themselves, from Antiquity to the present day. Rattles, toy cars, dolls, animals, board games... Take a trip back in time and discover how children explored the world, understood its codes and became aware of their surroundings... Through play. From the first toys made of rough, hand-crafted materials to the ultra-design toys of our modern age, discover these playful and, above all, unusual collections at the heart of the Musée du Jouet de Poissy.
Since the reopening of the museum in 2019 - following renovation work - a large part of the museum's collections is accessible to people with reduced mobility: for the rooms that aren't, the museum will lend you a digital tablet so you can explore them this way. For the whole family, game trails are available to allow children to discover the museum's collections from a truly playful angle.
The Musée du Jouet is open Wednesday to Friday, 10am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 6pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 1pm to 6pm. Closed on January 1, May 1, July 14, August 15 and December 25. Admission costs €7 full price, €5 concessions (for children aged 3 to 18) and €20 for the family rate, which includes two adults and 3 to 7 children under 18. Toddlers under 3 don't pay admission. So get ready for a trip to the Toy Museum!
