L'Escarpolette is the name of a new restaurant-coffee shop-tea room that has opened in the 5th arrondissement of Paris. A welcoming gourmet spot, offering a crazy brunch and a tea time that's as affordable as it is delicious!

Opened just one month ago, L'Escarpolette, located at 40 rue Fay-Lussac in the 5th arrondissement, a stone's throw from the Jardin du Luxembourg, is sure to please. This new tearoom, part coffee shop and part restaurant, welcomes you every day from 8:30am to 12:45am, except Sundays, from 9:30am to 9:00pm.

At L'Escarpolette, you'll enjoy delicious pastries made by Maman, who has picked up her recipes from all over the world. After retraining, the owner embarked on this adventure with her family. The Carrot Cake, now known as the Fureur de l'Escarpolette, is one of the must-try items. Despite its imposing size, it rarely goes half a day without being gobbled up, so much do we melt for its softness and divine taste.

These sweet treats are complemented by a fine range of specialty coffees and a lovely menu of divine and creative teas, created by the Parisian tea boutique Tea for my Cat. Hot chocolates with chammalow, macha latte, chai lattes and cappuccinos are also on offer.

Every weekend, the spot offers a gourmet brunch at €22 per person, which is already a hit thanks to word-of-mouth. We set out on our own to discover the tea time offer, which is available every day except Sunday (to leave room for the brunch that stretches out on that day).

Tea time at 22€ for two people, or just 11€ per person, was enough to pique our curiosity. Honestly, we still find it hard to believe that such a generous and delicious tea-time is so inexpensive. And we were on the verge of hiding this story to keep the good deal to ourselves. But our generosity knows no bounds, so we're sharing the best deal on the most gourmet and affordable tea time in Paris with you, dear public.

So, what's on offer at this inexpensive tea time? On the menu for €22:

We start by choosing a hot drink. For us, it's matcha latte and hot chocolate, in latte art please! This sweet and savory afternoon tea also includes 2 freshly squeezed orange juices. We then start with the savory section, featuring cream puffs with smoked salmon, a generous mushroom and runny egg tartine, a salmon tartine and a large, fluffy waffle with cured ham and tomatoes. The freshly baked bread and cabbage are a real treat.

On a sideboard, we're offered a pretty farandole of cookies, including gazelle horns, financiers and poppy seed madeleines.

As for sweet pastries, gourmandise is more than ever on the menu, with a slice of the famous carrot cake, two raspberry cream puffs for us, a decadent slice of brookie (a marriage of cookie and brownie) and a slice of chocolate-hazelnut tart.

So, a word of advice: eat light at lunchtime (or don't eat at all), and consider skipping dinner. As for the setting, it's a pretty room on a human scale that awaits you. A beautiful banquette running along the wall with velvet seats, marble-effect tables, a wooden counter and a bar displaying cakes and pastries form the decor.

At L'Escarpolette, you don't need to make a reservation, and you can sit back and relax all day long. The spot is kids frienly and even has a whole shelf of games so you can have a good time while having fun. All you have to do is choose your weapons.
