Zôr, l’Os de Noël by Le Roch Hôtel & Spa is an original creation thought up by chef Rémy Bérerd. The idea was to pay tribute to Saint Roch who gave his name to the street and this very hotel in which the chef works.
Saint Roch was the son of Montpellier governor. His parents had him lately and died when he was only 20. And that is when he decided to live as a pilgrim, taking half his fur to give to the poor he’d run into.
He made a pilgrimage to Rome, stopping by many Italian cities touched by plague and striving to care many sick persons, to the extent that he ended catching the disease and shutting himself away in the forest.
Only the hunting dog of the neighboring lord came to feed him by bringing a load of bread stolen from his master every day. The latter, intrigued by his dog’s goings-on, followed him in the forest and discovered the hurt saint he then saved.
Saint Roch owes his life to his dog and it’s to honor their memories that Rémy Bérerd came up with a bone-shaped gingerbread that will delight masters and their four-legged companions.
Zôr is a bone-shaped yule log made from a blending of spiced and dried fruits, with its side covered in gold.
Available from December 6, 2017 at the Hotel Saint Roch only, this original yule log is produced in limited edition with 100 samples only. You should book it 48 hours in advance.
