Paris 10th arrondissement keeps on changing… Set between the Gare de l'Est, Château d'Eau and Jacques Bonsergent, Grand Quartier has decided to change the image of the area and it's a success.
Both a hotel, a café, a place of life, a garden and a bar... Grand Quartier Saint Martin is the new, trendy and hip place in northern Paris.
Created by an indoor designer duo (studio Nicemakers), the place is all about hygge: velvet sofas, woorworks and lamps set here and there. It's our new favorite place in the area and it seems to delight locals.
Grand Quartier, living area
When we arrive on rue de Nancy, nothing can let us think a corner of heaven is hidding behind the large and white façade. You have to walk in to find a hidden terrace filled with plants. From there, several entrances: on the left, the hotel and further, up the direct entrance to the shop and bar/café.
We enter the shop and we discover a lovely counter looking on a large room enjoying a big table for 12, welcoming sofas, corners with three armchairs, as well as 4 small tables for 4. It's a big the living room everyone dreams of, and where groups, no matter the size, find their space!
We could stay for hours, enjoying a cup of coffee, writing articles or meeting. And speaking of coffee, Grand Quartier also owns a café (yes, the lounge isn't the "café", it's an extra area!).
For their café, the Grand Quartier team has called in the "Grande Famille du Quartier" including Romain and Sullivan from Syndicat, entrusted with the creation of the cocktails, Thomas from Brûlerie de Belleville for the coffees... From 7 a.m., Grand Quartier welcome hotel guests and locasl to make them discover great dishes.
In the morning, it's gourmet breakfats time (unfortunately, not set menu, but very tasty and healthy dishes!).
Then comes the menu of the day. Here, it's more focusing on snack for the sharing aspect... Veal meatballs, falafels, chicken wings, kefta, sweet potatoes fries, the whole for less than 10 euros!
Grand Quartier, a young and laid-back hotel
Moving on to bedrooms, Grand Quartier offers nice services in a rather young spirit making us think about Mama Shelter. Rather firm bed, big pillows, you'll sleep tight and sound. Covering 15 and 32 sqm, rooms are designed vert well. Some rooms enjoy a bathtub, a small bonus to keep an eye for when booking!
For active people who come to work, the hotel has thought about a breakfast on the go service, included in the price of the room. The principle? Fill a form in with your choices and in the morning will be dropped a bag with fruit juice, cereal bar and fruit.
A few minutes are only needed to join the Gare de l'Est and the Grands Boulevards, perfect to visit the city!
