Mabillon, Saint-Sulpice, Saint Germain-des-Près
Du lundi au mercredi de 19h à minuit et du jeudi au samedi de 19h à 5h.
In the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the World swimming champion Camille Lacourt opens a cocktail bar offering jazz music and DJ sets. The place used to be a theater in the 20’s and the baroque-inspired theme of the place is about to turn it into a hot spot on the Left Bank.
Beautiful people came for the opening. TV hosts, models, former miss France, musicians came to celebrate the opening of the Fidèle, the brand new and very chic restaurant and cocktail-bar in the 6th arrondissement. One of these faces overhung the crowd and caught the eyes, it was Camille Lacourt’s.
The four times world swimming champion is not only here to have fun, he is the new owner. His associate and friend Gilbert Kadosh, a good-looking and well-built sportsman and himself bought the former Théâtre Saint-Germain to turn it into a party place where you can come have a cocktail whilst listening to a jazz concert when the evening begins, before wiggling on the dancefloor until sunrise offering wild DJ sets.
The restaurant-bar offers a rococo atmosphere still in its original condition featuring a padded bar, red velvet bench seats and baroque mirrors. The place covers a surface of 250 square meters on two levels, including a mezzanine. This layout comes from the story of the walls which housed a theater in the roaring twenties.
After being used as a venue, the address located in Rue du Sabot is now becoming a festive spot offering cocktails (€16) with meaningful names such as “Le Poison par Camille Lacourt” with tequila, jasmine syrup and pistachio macaroon, or “l’Amoré moi par Laure Manadou” with vodka, limoncello, topped with basil and fresh raspberries.
In terms of cuisine, the Fidèle offers a surf and turf menu with Thai-cooked frog legs (€25), shrimp fritters (€18), three mini-burgers (€25) or even cold meats and cheese platters (€20 each).
But why is it called the Fidèle (French for “faithful”)? Camille Lacourt explains: “It is a place dedicated to evenings with friends and being faithful and loyal to my friends is crucial”.
