This summer, new pop-up venues are multiplying. Brace yourself because on June 1, 2017 Summer House is coming after the opening of Ground Control, Papa Cabane or La Démesure sur Seine.
This genuine summer house is open to all and is described as the “new hybrid venue dedicated to US pop culture”.
Summer House is to be discovered within the Mona Bismarck American Center, housed in a splendid 19th century private mansion in the capital’s 16th arrondissement.
All summer long, Parisians and tourists can meet altogether in this unique place featuring a 400-square-meter garden.
In terms of music, Summer House offers about fifty electro-acoustic and electronic lives, sound performances and DJ sets.
From June to September 2017, based on a programming moving from traditional African-American music (jazz, blues, funk) and current music (hip-hop, nu soul, r’n’b) to alternative rock music via electro, new wave or folk music, Summer House will welcome the most emblematic actors of American music.
The music programming revolves around several themes:
Summer House also gives pride of place to moviescreenings in the open air, photography and contemporary art exhibitions as well as living art performances.
And as if it was not enough, two Sundays a month, at nightfall, Summer House offer Christine 21’s legendary cinema for Opening Nights, open air screenings of American 35mm movies.
In terms of food and drinks, Summer House and Bonomy’s team (Little Red Door, Lulu white and Bonhomie) join forces to take order at Summer House’s speakeasy. On the menu? Legendary American cocktails from the Prohibition (Manhattan, Mint Julep, Sazerac…) as well as original cocktails such as Kokomo (Rhum, pineapple, Pineau des Charentes, citrus fruits and ginger), the Georgia On My Mind (bourbon, peach, mint and honey) or the Another Boulvardier (bourbon, Campari, Dry Vermouth and Eucalyptus). Delightful cocktails changing on a weekly basis.
Beer lovers will enjoy the Parisian, natural craft beers by Demory Paris.
To go along these drinks, Summer House selected the best of the American food scene: Texan BBQ specialist: The Beast. Several chefs will also come over to show their own vision of US food and French food’s mix.
