Mixing quality natural wines and tapas both hot and cold from the terroir: such is the concept proposed by the very friendly and warm bar L’Antre Potes nestled in Paris 12th arrondissement.

Spending some time at L’Antre Potes is to make sure you have a beautiful evening, enjoying quality products, discovering new and delicious vintages and exchanging with neighbors and maybe make some meetings!

Open for almost a year, within walking distance from Hôpital Saint Antoine, L’Antre Potes is part of these Parisian places we enjoy going with friends, without fuss, and share fragments of life that are simple, friendly and rewarding.

Behind each business, there’s a story. For L’Antre Potes, it’s the story of two childhood friends who – one day – have decided to set up their own business. One on hand, Maxime Duval. Coming from Auvergne, he trained in management and hotel management at Vatel school and EMC Paris. After living in Azerbaijan, he returns to France and decides to launch himself, along with his friend Arnaud Pedreiro – who worked at La Férandaise a famous Auvergne brasserie.

Passionate by organic and natural wines, the two buddies start a road trip across France meeting wine makers and small producers to find the rare and atypical gems and their favorite vintages.

Today, the two friends offer more than forty bottles in their bar. The particularity that makes all its charm? There’s no menu. Here, at L’Antre Potes, you’re advised, and we love it! Loving red more with character and a fruity taste? A dry and light white? Maxime and Arnaud know what vintage will satisfy your amateur and connoisseur taste buds even if you have to shake up your habits and push yourself to go for a Bordeaux or a Bourgogne wine.

The bonus? For each wine offered, you can taste it so that you can select the one you preferred. More than a service, it’s their philosophy! And the icing on the cake, you can take your bottle every night until 2 a.m. An offer combined with a 15% discount compared to the price on the list.

To be enjoyed by the glass or the bottle, with prices between €22 and €45 per bottle, L’Antre Potes has some unique gems such as a Domaine de Ray-Jane rosé (PDO Bandol) with a tag by cartoonist Charb.

As for us, we went for a Côtes du Jura 2015 white wine, a Mas de la Front Ronde red wine and the excellent Côte du Rhône from Domaine Elodie Balme.

Note that the bar also offers beverages for people who are allergic to wine. Once again, quality is here with craft beers such as the delicious draft Brooklyn. For spirit lovers, the house reveals a beautiful collection with a Kavalan whisky, a Citadelle gin, a Calvados from Pays d’Auge or a Santa Teresa 1796 molasses rum.

To accompany these wines, L’Antre Potes bets on local and quality products from small producers, local artisans and even from the Marché d’Aligre set not far.

First there is the delicious and irresistible board of cold cuts and cheeses including – for example, Cecina de Léon, a dried and smoked beef meat, the authentic Spanish Bellota chorizo, Auvergne dry sausage, Duroc 24-month matured ham and very beautiful cheese references from Meilleur Ouvrier de France [Best Craftsman in France] Eric Lefebvre (Saint-Nectaire, Cantal and the delicious Brillat-Savarin with truffle) the whole enhanced by Poujauran bread.

If you feel really hungry, trust the board with the soft piece of beef just quickly pan-fried as well as the Neapolitan burrata salad or the poached egg with Saint-Nectaire cream and ham without forgetting, when we’re close to winter, the camembert fondue.

Looking like an urban wine bar and its series of standing tables, L’Antre Potes indisputably invites to exchange. A human quality that unfortunately decreases at our time, but this Parisian wine bar is bold enough to update it. True living place and discovery area for our taste buds, L’Antre Potes will surely become your new night HQ!
