The Cod House
Like Izakaya bars Japanese style, The Cod House is a new place of life in Paris 6th arrondissement where it feels good to stop by to sip a wonderful cocktail and eat tapas-like dishes. Japanese-French dishes as good as original are yours. To taste asap!
After recently opening the Yoko Bourse, the Black Code group offers us their brand-new spot: The Cod House. A spacious and luminous spot where it feels good to have a seat, have a drink and eat plates with Asian twists and share your meal, izakaya bar style.
Good riddance to muted and dark atmosphere of late Tigrr, The Cod House reveals a luminous, airy, wide but cozy space with different corners with bench seats and throw-pillows.
On the left, at the entrance, we discover a beautiful design bar where we can taste fabulous homemade cocktails (syrups and the whole thing) from the afternoon to the evening. Discover Japanese-style cocktails with yuzu and matcha. Take your pick: the Kimm’s, grand-cousin of the Brit’ Pimm’s, enlivened with a soda flavored with Earl Grey tea, or the Nihon Cha Punch and its matcha-infused cachaça, lemongrass syrup…
In the middle of the restaurant, the kitchen is open so that we can have a look at the dishes being prepared.
Let’s slump on a bench seat to order nice dishes to share. The Yellow Tail, just seared and skillfully seasoned with ginger, the original burrata and revisited with soy and yuzu sauce (to taste no matter what, the surprise is real) and the shrimp tempura salad with its spicy sauce that we loved!
We continue with tuna californias onigiri and miso californias Black Cod. Everything to make the most gourmets of you be full up.
Don’t miss the house specialty: The Black Cod, this wild fish is prepared with miso and is as soft as can be.
We’ve got a favorite with the tasty and soft Baos. If you’re a vegetarian, the vegetable version is excellent.
We end on a sweet note with atypical desserts. Curious choose the rice waffle served with match green tea. Careful, if you’re looking for something light, the dessert isn’t the case. Some love it, some don’t, form your own opinion.
Lovers of melting apple will go for the crispy gyozas served with vanilla ice cream while reasonable eaters will rather choose the green tea crème brûlée.
In short, to have a good time and share some nice dishes, head to The Cod House!
