Both chic and trendy, The 46 Bar is an address to be remembered. This spot with a New-York atmosphere is the perfect place to have a drink with friends or on a date. Head to the République area to discover this strong place.
A hybrid spot
When entering The 46 Bar, we discover a spot with a muted yet quirky atmosphere designed by the master of the place, Malek. A huge and 7-m long wooden counter adorned with a lovely flower arrangement sets the tone. We’re deeply delighted by this setting where raw materials rub shoulders with bargain-hunted furniture and where a vegetal wall turns into a Hall of Mirrors.
In the back, a trompe l’oeil mural by artist Marie Vagnini takes us to a bucolic land. The whole looks like a New-York bar met Lewis Carroll’s wonderland. Sat at the wooden counter or on a sofa, here everyone has a favorite spot. We even let ourselves be carried by the electro-swing playlist while browsing the menu.
We must say that The 46 Bar is a bit the Hannah Montana of Parisian bars. Coffee Shop by day and cocktail bar by night, here each hour has its own atmosphere. During the day, barista Alex delights taste buds with tasty lattes, whirling hot cocoas as well as a crème brûlée coffee, a real coffee treat to try asap.
By night, it’s Victor who works behind the counter. Each cocktail preparation is a show and the highlight is the tasting. You can go for the creations available on the menu such as the Dark and Stormy, a cocktail based on ginger beer, lime and Jamaican rum. A perfectly balanced recipe that reminds us of a sour candy.
Sweet-toothed will fall for the Porn Star Martini. Vodka infused with vanilla, passion fruit, a dash of lime and voilà, a cocktail to be enjoyed as a pastry. Finally, for those looking for a strong drink, we fall for the Captain Negroni which bitterness perfectly blends with mezcal smoked note and an ice cube shaped like a skull for some look.
Here are some news likely to delight people looking for new discoveries or even people who don’t know what to choose: at The 46 Bar you can also enjoy custom-made cocktails. You can ask Victor to improvise a drink especially for you that meets your tastes, your needs or give him free rein. And here he is juggling while creating your cocktail. And to make is as beautiful as tasty, he directly uses the flowers from the bouquet to decorate your drink. This is how we discover two unique creations with a surprising composition.
The first one – immediately called Spartan Spritz – is made of mastihac (pine sap) of Athenian Vermouth flavored with kumquat, Cointreau, yellow lemon juice, gin, hibiscus syrup, mint and prosecco. A super floral and refreshing creation perfect on sunny days. The second one, Davy Jones Sour, is made of honey syrup, grapefruit juice and yuzu, homemade spicy rum, white egg and angostura bitter. Not too sour, we love how flavors balance to create a surprisingly sweet cocktail but with a touch of bitterness to keep things interesting.
And to be enjoyed with these beautiful creations and at any time of the day, The 46 Bar menu provides a hot dog with beef sausage, or you can nibble on artichoke cream, bell pepper or rillette toast. But we definitely love the boards.
We literally fall under the charm of the Cecina de Leon dried beef plate with slices that actually melt in the mouth. And if you’re like us, you love cheese, the board of cheese will make you happy: Tomme de brebis, 18-month Comté cheese, fourme de Valcivière and Neuchâtel, the whole served with onion and Corsican honey confit, red bell pepper and myrtle berries chutney as well as Kalamata olives, so good!
Whether it’s for the atmosphere or the drinks, The 46 Bar will likely become your new GHQ.
