Have you ever thought – when visiting a bar or a restaurant – you’d love to have this beautiful armchair or this large raw wooden table? We have!
Well, at Assemblages it’s literally what you can do since this wine bar in the Marais doubles up as a cabinetmaker studio and all the beautiful pieces of furniture you can see are available on sale. Great, isn’t it?
Running the spot, cabinetmaker and wine connoisseur Eric Wilmot who has decided to open Assemblages to provide his creations with a nice and intimate setting and meet his public. During the day, he works in his studio set in the middle of the bar, behind a nice and industrial glass door, and from 6 p.m., he’s at the bar and in the room to greet patrons.
So, furniture changes regularly with his creations and if you fall for a piece in this never-seen-before showroom, you only have to place an order!
As for wines, since we’re here for them, are to be found Corbières Blanc, organic, dry and fruity, from the Domaine de Montfin (€29 the bottle), Costière de Nîmes, organic, from Château d’Or et de Gueules (€29 the bottle), Egia Tegia (€33 the bottle) or even Pic Saint Loup from Domaine de Villeneuve (€37 the bottle).
To make sure you’re right, Assemblages enjoys a Coravin which allows us to taste a wine without having to remove the cork (yes, it’s almost magic!). The best way to choose well before ordering!
You can pair your wine with some tapas (from €6), a plate of duck (€19.50) including a nice slice of foie gras, rillettes, smoked breast and pepper terrine or a Nordic plate (€18) with old-fashioned smoked salmon.
And Sunday is brunch day (€29)! With a set menu including a savory plate to choose among two options, a fresh and homemade fruit juice, unlimited coffee and tea and a nice Norwegian waffle flavored with cardamom.
Let’s have our next drink there, shall we?
