More than a temporary barge, La Bougeotte is a genuine floating wine bar moored in the Bassin de La Villette. On the colorful deck, enjoy lots of independent wines (120 references!) selected over the course of French canals by captain and wine-merchant Charles Delalande. A bargain for people in Paris in love with small producers and guinguette-inspired vibe and sunset on the water as a bonus!
The idea is based on a simple assessment. “Rivers being the origin of valleys and hills, a large majority of vineyards are crossed by waterways. It is then possible to load a barge with wines and more varied local produces, straight from producers and propose them in a direct and traveling fashion, then”, the founder explains.
Like an early Christmas present, Charles hides in his floating sack local French goods to nibble on while having a glass of (very tasty wine) in hand, coming from Centre Loire, Bourgogne, Beaujolais, Jura and Champagne. Enjoy truffle-ham croque-monsieurs with Comté cheese and candied onions; chorizo broiled ravioli; radish-citrus fruit carpaccio; boards of cheeses and charcuteries, and seafood such as shrimp ceviche, squid salad, Norman oysters and whelks supplied by an oyster farmer from Normandy.
Festive guinguette indeed with lovely colorful paper lanterns, but committed to. La Bougeotte does not hide its will to create social relationships and promote an eco-friendly means of transport and trade. In other words, a barge that has it all.
