Put on your best tricolored clothes and head to speakeasy bar nestled within Hôtel Bachaumont, Bar Chaumont. The menu, wines, ingredients and décor are French or are not. So, ready to enjoy yourself safe from prying looks?
You het it, here, no Anglicism nor exotic frivolity. Let’s enjoy a very French aperitif. Looking like a snack, their small sandwiches are sorted out by “grands classiques”, “singuliers” or “very distingués” categories. Depending on your needs: ham butter olive bread, crispy vegetables rye bread or event truffled poultry and bun.
To avoid tight throats, the team has thought about everything. By the glass (or the bottle), “a magic wine, an extraordinary water”, please! Pride of place is given to terroir with “wines coming from treasure of our French lands”.
As for the décor, this hidden and mysterious-looking spot enjoys a small surface but has a big fame. True architectural ufo, the marbled bar – the house’s masterpiece – is shaped like a horseshoe, like they used to be. Same for the walls and ceilings, painted with marbled effects, covered in countless gypsum medallions like period cameos.
We owe this beautiful project to Samy Marciano (Hotel National des Arts et Métiers, Hotel Bachaumont) and Ramdane Touhami (Le Bon Marché, Liberty, Cire Trudon…).
We better get why it’s so beautiful/good!
