The WHSmith Bookshop, now called Smith&Son, reopens its Paris tea room in the historic ambience ofGeorge Washington's apartment, and unveils a new decor. Smith&Son, the famous British bookshop on rue de Rivoli, has reopened its tea room ,well hidden above the bookshop. Located on the 1st floor of the century-old establishment, the café reveals 3 spaces in which to relax.
The choice of decor is yours: a fireplace room with a rediscovered mural decor, a corridor with a relaxing banquette, or a spacious room at the back.
The place unveils its Cream Tea, a light version of Afternoon Tea featuring exclusively scones with strawberry jam and Clotted Cream. No salted food, no cakes, just good scores with a good cup of tea. Here, the scones are prepared according to a traditional recipe, plain or with reasons. The clotted cream comes from Coombe Castle (Devon) and the strawberry jam is homemade. Just warmed, they're delicious.
But don't worry, tea time is also on the menu. To be enjoyed as a duo for €35, this tea time consists of a choice of 2 drinks, 4 scones, 4 sandwiches and 2 sweet bites.
Note that cream tea is served daily from 2pm to 6pm and can even be taken away. How about a so-British interlude before or after a stroll through the Jardins des Tuileries?
