Mariage Frères tea stores have decided to promote the Chocolate Week for two weeks instead of one and right before the Salon du Chocolat. This more English than French event has chocolate flow freely and we’re not going to complain about this gourmet importation.
You might say that a tea house giving pride of place to chocolate, it’s weird. And yet, you should know that the house has a sublime black tea with chocolate from Colombia aromas. It also has delicious pastries wonderfully painting chocolate and infused teas.
We can actually eat at Mariage Frères? Yes, but not only can you have lunch but it’s delicious. I often hear that when I speak about Mariage Frères and yet, the house cooks exqiuisite tea pairing dishes to shake up the taste buds with original flavors.
For the Chocolate Week, the house offers on the menu and excellent and perfectly cooked cod with chocolate-infused juice and Los Andes tea, served with roasted shiitakes and chorizo, citrus fruit condiment and homemade mashed potatoes with fresh herbs and sour bays. This dish is naturally served with Los Andes tea, a black tea from Colombia served iced with a drop of milk if you want to.
In terms of sweet treats, you’ve got quite the choice. No fewer than 7 pastries are available on the occasion. From the chocolate Millecake for Earl Grey lovers to Rio Summer with acai confit without forgetting the decadent Paris-Tokyo mixing browned bananas, yuzu and peanuts, the hardest step is to choose (or maybe not, we take it all).
