Let yourself go for the flavors of a Christmas spent in Alsace, in the heart of Paris. Vosges is a new address in Paris 2nd arrondissement. Both a bakery and a coffee shop, it provides for the Holidays 2018, an Alsatian menu filled with good food, sweet as well as savory.
For instance, there is the excellent homemade traditional white goose foie gras cooked according to Vosges baker-patissier’s Alsatian grand-mother’s recipe, Emmanuel Dresch with kirsch, cognac and spices.
As well as Gugelhupf, a traditional cake from Alsace, Manalas (small brioche men), Christmas shortbreads, brunzlee (chocolate stars), flaky brioche and of course gingerbread.
Moving on to pastries, it’s the young pâtissier trained at Maison Dalloyau, Clément Garnier who’s in charge. He offers for the Holidays a delicious Christmas chestnut-clementine entremets and a Forêt noire des Vosges that comes to join in the window display the bourbon vanilla and raspberry Vacherin.
At Vosges, everything is homemade with organic, local and seasonal ingredients. Flours are organic, butter, cream and eggs come from Normandy, yeast is natural, water is dynamized, wines come from Alsace and coffee is made by Bartolomeo Dibenedetto, a craft roaster. All good!
Excluding the Holidays, this French coffee shop offers all kinds of breads, viennoiseries, pastries (lemon pie, fruit tart, gluten-free chocolate cake). At lunchtime, you can enjoy a buddha bowl, a vegetable soup or a slice of quiche Lorraine… And in the weekend, a nice and hearty brunch served with organic apple or orange juice squeezed on the spot.
