Novotel Paris Les Halles hotel pastry chef Quentin Lechat has won the first prize on the occasion of the first edition of the “Grand Prix de la Pâtisserie de Paris”. Thanks to his original pastry “Noisette 3”, he beats Andrea Basmadjian from Thierry Marx Bakery and Christian Teixeira, pastry chef at Aux Délices du Palais. We tell you everything about this pastry to enjoy on the spot or to take away.

Dear sweet-toothed friends, here’s a prize list likely to trigger your curiosity and whet your appetite!

This year, the first edition of the “Grand Prix de la Pâtisserie de Paris” took place. With this new competition, the City of Paris wishes “to highlight Parisian pastry chefs in their diversity, from the local artisan to the big name, making thousands of tourists move all the way to their store”.

For this first edition, 23 pâtissiers, pâtissier-bakers and pastry chefs have presented their personal creation around one theme: “Paris”.

To decide between them, this “Grand Prix de la Pâtisserie de Paris” asked for the help of Ritz pastry chef François Perret, pâtissiers Laurent Duchêne and Benoit Castel as well as journalists and four Parisians randomly picked.

After debating, Novotel Paris Les Halles hotel pastry chef Quentin Lechat won the first spot thanks to his original pastry “Noisette 3”. He’s followed by Andrea Basmadjian from Thierry Marx Bakery and Aux Délices du Palais pastry chef Christian Teixeira.

To find the shape of his tasty pastry, he didn't go far. He got inspired by the cobblestone covering the streets of Paris. It may be hard to believe it, but this pastry is a revisited Paris-Brest. And no, it's no some marshmallow!

This white chocolate cube holds a mousse mixing citrus aurantium and Piedmont hazelnut. Its heart is made of a cream puff generously filled with praline, the whole covered in natural bamboo charcoal to get the grey color of a cobblestone. Crispy, smooth and some crunch, not too sweet, how great is it!

If you want to enjoy it, you'll have to meet at T'Time du Jardin Privé terrace for a very affordable sweet break. Noisette 3 is available on the menu of the terrace and included in a Discovery version including a drink for €27 or a gourmet version, the Signature version for €35.

It's now also available to take away, but a piece of advice: think about booking in advance (by calling +33.1.42.21.31.31) to make sure it's not out of stock.

Happy sweet discovery, friends!

Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
