At Le Grand Véfour, Michelin chef Guy Martin has come up – for sweet-toothed foodies – a crispy Epiphany Cake based on caramel frangipane and cashew nut cream.

For Epiphany 2020, Michelin chef Guy Martin has come up with a very flavorful Epiphany Cake 2020 for Le Grand Véfour. On January 6, 2020, you can feed children and grown-up children of your family with his “Galette Craquante”.

Don’t be fooled with its rather classic look, Guy Martin’s Epiphany Cake has more than one trick up its sleeve. Inside? A caramel and fleur de sel frangipane as well as cashew nut cream. original, isn’t it?

And when Guy Martin presents us his French Epiphany Cake, we discover the child sleeping inside him. Here’s what he said about it: “this years’ cake is about how sweet it is to want to share and we find this very sweetness with the caramel and pecan nut… Indeed, this cake is round and we could have done it in a triangular or rectangular shape (see his yule log), but I find roundness is what represents unity, gathering, it’s the symbol of the circle of friends, the intimate circle and at the same time, it’s sharing, a bit like a tart. This explains why we worked on these rather round shapes, as well as cubes and this caramel that brings some crunch. It’s also a nod to the moments during which we used to be a child with this caramel we all love. As for the sweet taste, it’s a bit like a walk down memory lane and this cake conveys a message: I grew up and I’ve made this circle to gather my friends around so that we can all be in harmony”.
