Pastry fans, you will be delighted with Nicolas Paciello's new spring teatime served at restaurant le Joy, at the hotel Barrière Le Fouquet’s Paris. Prince de Galles former pastry chef keeps on delighting us, at the brasserie and in the two CinqSens pastry stores. For a perfect moment in a sophisticated and cozy setting, head to Le Joy. Inside or outside, it is up to you, but we went for the setting as verdant as can be.
For this teatime, Nicolas Paciello was inspired by his childhood memories. He explains: “I grew up in a family where teatime was a deeply-rooted tradition. This moment of sharing and extreme greed is very dear to me. But a teatime worthy of this name is not something you take on the go! To enjoy it, you have to take your time”.
Nicolas Paciello and Raymond Nordin - at the helm of the restaurant - came up with a two-course teatime. An afternoon tea that like the Fouquet's menu is now giving pride of place to 100% French produces.
With the heat, start your tasty break with homemade iced tea and coffee.
Serving carts are here (we were 3 that day), and we are seating in front of a lovely sweet/savort selection typical of teatimes: lukewarm scones baked to order and still warm, jaffa cake-inspired cakes, chocolate cookies and beautiful strawberry tartlets.
Moving on to the savory part, Nordin serves Landres trout gravlax, duck foie gras, and cured comté cheese fingers.
Then, enjoy the second part: the three signature pastries by Nicolas Paciello usually served in small sizes. As there were 3 of us, the 3 desserts have been served by the plate and shared, so we could first enjoy it through our eyes before our taste buds.
Enjoy the crunchy Pavlova mixing fresh strawberries and slightly candied rhubarb with verbena sorbet.
Fall for the new buckwheat flan, opaline, and caramel ice cream covered in tasty sauce.
Who cannot fall for this mix of raspberries with French almonds, thin tuiles and herb sorbet?
