Mado à Paris is a new tearoom to try in Paris! Open in November 2019 on rue de Rivoli, just across the Tuileries garden, this madeleine store hopes to entertain children and adults with tasty and regressive recipes to pair with some tea or hot chocolate!

Set across the Tuileries Garden, Mado à Paris is the new tearoom of this winter 2019: a lovely setting, mouthwatering madeleines and a beautiful selection of products to take away and give as gifts.

We must say that Mado’s madeleines have been noticed at the Salon du Chocolat 2018, but back then, they were only supplied to restaurateurs. It’s no longer the case since a Mado à Paris tearoom has open on rue de Rivoli, Concorde side. Inside, we take the time to breath over madeleines (or a nice slice of cake), some tea or nice hot chocolate!

Catherine, the manager, tells us that after years of working in the luxury field, she’s decided to hit the madeleine adventure, a cake she’s been loving since her childhood. She tells she often baked madeleines with her aunt, Madeleine, when they caught up. On the walls, we have pictures of this aunt in the 30s-40s, celebrating women, Madeleine included, then!

Her specialty is stuffed madeleines like the chocolate madeleine with a soft chocolate heart, the lemon madeleine, the pistachio and raspberry madeleine.
They do look big and the flavors delight children and adults. By the way, the versions covered in chocolate are the best-sellers!

We go for the chocolate madeleine (€3.20 on the spot and €2.90 to take away) and a cup of hot chocolate (€7.20). With a boudoir vibe (that reminds us of the Brasserie Brach), we can almost forget we’re on rue de Rivoli. On the walls, many books you can read, and this is exactly what we needed to nest. The madeleine holds a very delicious smooth heart.

Very soft, sweet in the mouth, it’s the perfect and traditional madeleine. even though it’s not very original, it has a moreish taste that almost leads us to buy everything in sight. As for the hot chocolate, it’s a true winter comforting treat that stays in the mouth for a few minutes.

Before we go, it’s hard to resist the call of madeleines to take-away, tea and jams, perfect for breakfast. A whole station is available et we already feel tempted.
