How about treating ourselves to a Christmas teatime? Among the most beautiful discoveries of this winter, we present the winter teatime by Nicolas Paciello for Le Joy, the cozy and hidden restaurant of Hôtel Fouquet's Paris on the Champs-Elysées.
Just behind the famous and historic brasserie, perpendicular to the Avenue Georges V, let’s go up and have a seat in the wonderful setting of Le Joy. A restaurant in which hides a roomy patio, a good idea to be safe from the hustle and bustle of the avenue. This is the perfect terrace to be at peace in summer like in winter.
This year, the place is adorned with a magical decorum: snow-covered pines, heated bubble, garlands, reindeers and owls make us feel like in the mountains but festive way. We choose to go outside to enjoy this tasty snack. With heated lamps ideally set all around, we can’t feel the cold and we’re comfortable while being outside.
Since this past September, it’s Nicolas Paciello – who arrived recently from Prince de Galles where he already treated us well – who comes to satisfy our sweet tooth. For the famous Afternoon Tea, the chef came up with a teatime in two courses so that you can take your time and fully enjoy it.
“I grew up in a family where the afternoon break was priceless. I’m very attached to this moment of sharing and extreme delight. But an afternoon tea worthy of this name can’t be enjoyed on the go! To fully enjoy it, you have to take your time”.
The teatime can be enjoyed all year long, daily, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. but changes with the seasons. So, for the winter version to discover until February 2, we start with lukewarm scones baked to order and flavored with earl grey tea and served with speculoos cookies.
We carry on with a nice range of savory delights: Iberian ham focaccia, salmon cubes with lemon gel, classic version or beetroot version, king prawn with mashed avocado and black truffle tartlet expect you.
The last tier offers an orange ball, mandarin cake and gingerbread, hazelnut cake and cinnamon and dark chocolate spritz.
We enjoy it all with some tea, an exquisite cup of hot cocoa or a delicious cappuccino, like us. Unless the champagne version eyes at you.
Once you’ve eaten it, you move on to the second service. We love the plate with 3 signature pastries: the chocolate-vanilla with crispy cereals Christmas bulb, the lemon pie based on shortbread and sesame and the mandarin-chestnut entremets.
Allow €48 for the classic teatime served with a hot drink and €58 for the champagne version (glass of Veuve Clicquot brut or rosé).
Not enough yet? Well, go for the chef’s creative pastries. The Paris Brest with runny praline core and the soft chocolate-coffee cake with coffee caramel core are just divine!
In other words, all you need to enjoy a very tasty and sophisticated moment in an enchanting setting!
