Le Pont Traversé is the name of this charming, authentic coffee shop in Paris's 6th arrondissement. Once a butcher's shop, then a well-known local bookshop whose name the café has kept, Le Pont Traversé takes its name from a collection of stories by Jean Paulhan.

Le Pont Traversé left for a well-deserved retirement in 2019, and became a coffee shop in March 2021. From its history, the place has kept its listed facade. And let's face it, this façade doesn't leave anyone indifferent. A butcher's shop at first glance, it's easy to understand why the carved ox heads and enamelled plates on the front are so striking.

Attracted by this pretty rue de Vaugirard storefront, we sit down at a table to discover the menu of this two-storey coffee shop , restaurant, canteen and grocery store .

We love the decor, which reveals emerald earthenware from the butcher's era, mingling with original marble and mirrors, as well as a variety of antique objects.

The shelves of Le Pont Traversé are stocked with homemade jams and spreads, as well as chocolate, tea, coffee andolive oil. All good things.

Behind Le Pont Traversé is entrepreneur Frédérique Jules, already the creator of the Noglu restaurants, one of which is just a stone's throw away in Paris and the other in New York. This is why, as you'd expect, the offer is gluten-free.

On the program: healthy, tasty and well-sourced products. Enjoy specialty coffees, teas and infusions, cold-pressed juices, plant-based and non-plant-based lattes, lemonade and hot chocolate.

For lunch or a quick bite to eat, Le Pont Traversé offers a healthy street food menu designed by Frédérique Jules. The savoury menu includes soups, pastas, salads and brioche buns. On the sweet side, cookies, banana bread, carrot cake, apple and pecan tarts await you on the menu.

On our visit, we were able to try out the new menu.

We discovered the excellent Toast Brioché with snacked tuna and pickles, a delight. The divinely prepared salmon gravlax is easy to swallow, and the Conchiglioni stuffed with mushrooms and parmesan cream is sure to appeal to vegetarians.

On the sweet side, we're thinking healthy with the granola and we're delighted with the Pecan Pie and the Carrot cake, which are soft and not too sweet, a real delight.
