Café Contresort is a genuine enchanted break in Paris 18th arrondissement. Plant-based pastries, witches’ elixirs, and cards reading are put together in this magical den you will leave feeling enchanted.

Astrologist, writer and restaurateur Mathilde Fachan and pâtissier and chirologist Eloise Mehard came up in 2020 with the only esoteric café in Paris. Fond of pastries and magic, the two friends provide their budding wizards and witches with the promise of delicious moments in the retro and magical café. Between brooms on the walls, books of spells on the shelves, and bewitched food, those who always wanted to become a wizard will be delighted by the Café Contresort!

Baked on site, all pastries are plant-based with gluten-free options. And Eloise is the one farming the organic edible plants and flowers you will find in your dishes. There is a few savory food offer including the Chaudron de la Sorcière (served in an authentic cauldron), falafels, waffles, and melted cheese chips, for lunch.

As for drinks, there are multiple potions and elixirs named after magical spells. The incredible “citronnade magique” or magical lemonade changes colors and the witches of the Café Contresort have thought about every single detail. Several potions have medical qualities such as the Bananacadabra based on almond milk, Tonka bean, banana and mucuna that will put you in a good mood, or the Anxio Reducto based on red berries and CBD to ease your anxiety. Alcohol-free cocktails are named after famous witches such as the Mary Poppins, Karaba, and the Marraine-fée. The Marie Laveau – in tribute to the voodoo priestess – is based on vanilla and passion fruit and even served in a crocodile from the bayou!

But the house’s specialty is the Roue du Zodiaque cupcake, a must! At the moment, it is Virgo season, and the cupcake is worth it: buckwheat cake, buckwheat praline heart, and candied fig are the perfect mix to embody harvest, profusion and abundance. We are impatient to see what the Libra cupcake at the end of September will be like! But let us not forget about the chocolate and matcha cake, and the passion fruit cake or even the peanut banana bread.

In addition to being a feast for the taste buds, the Café Contresort provides themed nights, astral themed readings or hand reading, as well as book and tarots available on site. A small heaven for esoterism fan, all in benevolence and open-mindedness.

A Harry Potter night will be held on September 17 at the café, but stay tuned for Halloween is just around the corner and no doubt our two witches have wonderful surprise in theirs books of spells!
